John "Skip" Comsia
President/CEO of SRC Retirement, Inc.
Skip’s experience includes more than 30 years of assisted living
construction and management in Texas, and more than 40 years of income
construction and professional property management of senior living,
apartments, office buildings and shopping centers in Texas and Florida.
Mr.
Comsia owned, operated and licensed the first assisted living property in
Texas. He has developed assisted living communities with as many as 146
beds and Alzheimer Care facilities with as many as 32 beds. Due to his
heavy involvement at both the state and national levels with ALFA and
TALA, he has extensive knowledge of the regulations governing Texas-based
assisted living facilities and continues to be involved the the
development of licensing and operating standards.
Skip earned a BS
in Public Administration from Virginia Tech. He is a Licensed Texas Real
Estate Broker and and holds a Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation
from the Institute of Real Estate Management. He currently sits as
Treasurer (2003 - Present) on the Board of Directors of the Assisted
Living Federation of America (ALFA). He has been a member of the Texas
Assisted Living Association (TALA) since 1995 serving at the highest
levels within the Board of Directors, and as Past Chairman.
Skip’s
other professional and community activities have included Rotary Club,
Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast Workforce Commission, Texas Crime Control
and Prevention District board member for the City of Pasadena Texas, TDHS
STAR+PLUS Medicaid Managed Care Advisory Committee member, San Jacinto
Community College Small Business Advisory Committee board member, and Deer
Park Educational Foundation board member.
